We welcome families with children and look forward to celebrating your child’s baptism!
Process for Baptisms
1. Registration. Parents who desire a baptism should register (click here for parish registration) and participate in the community for at least three months. Households new to the area or the community are most welcome. Introduce yourself to the priests and pastoral staff before or after attending mass. After three months, contact the office and speak with the Pastoral Associate, who will assist you in initiating the preparation process.
2. Pastoral Visit. Families will meet with a pastoral minister to offer a welcome and get to know the family. We'll talk about the schedule for baptisms at Sunday mass.
3. Preparation Session. Families participate in a required Baptism Prep Session before the baptism. These are scheduled through the Pastoral Associate and generally are held on the first Saturday of each month. You may do the preparation session before your child's birth.
4. Celebration of Baptism. Baptism is celebrated at Mass so that the entire community may be present and the necessary relationship between Baptism and the Eucharist may be clearly seen.
Selecting Godparents
When considering godparents, the following criteria should guide you. Though it is ideal to select two godparents (one female and one male), only one godparent is needed. Godparents should:
RCIA: Adults who desire baptism are prepared through the Rite of Christian Initiation for Adults or the RCIA process. For more information, contact [email protected].
RCIC: Children ages 7-15 are prepared for baptism, confirmation, and Eucharist through a similar process known as the Rite of Christian Initiation for Children. Contact Fr. Raj Narisetty, co, [email protected] for more information.
